The Challenge

Job descriptions often lack the detail and crucial information needed for job seekers to understand if the job is a good fit for them. This service combines personal encouragement and support from NS Works staff with an online system of saving unique preferences for each job seeker and then narrowing jobs to match their skills and needs. The goal is for job seekers with a complex set of criteria for jobs to find roles that are uniquely suited to them.

My Contribution

As a Senior Designer with Davis Pier, Jane led a collaborative approach to the research and design process through a committee of frontline staff that decided on the research approach, service requirements, and developed ideas for how the service could work. More than 5 prototypes were designed, tested, and iterated to find a solution that would work for the four different roles in this service and advanced employment equity for the job seekers involved. The final design received positive feedback from people across the employment services system for the relative simplicity and attention to detail.
