Crafting a design process that combines lived experiences and social science with
Reimagine LABS
Facilitation, Process Design, & Evaluation Strategy
The Challenge
Reimagine LABS helps social purpose organizations evolve their strategic goals into well-designed programs. As a new organization, they needed support to develop a unique program design process that will help ensure social and public sector programs can be implemented with greater confidence, impact, and effectiveness. It was important that the rigor of evidence-based program development be combined with the relational and participatory qualities of human-centred design, so programs would be impactful and sustainable.
Our Contribution
Jane worked collaboratively with the Reimagine LABS team to develop a process that is flexible for different organizations and program contexts, while providing a consistent approach to follow. We developed a Design Process Guidelines document that described six steps in a design process (Mobilization, Discovery, Analysis, Design, Implementation, and Follow-up). Each phase provided details including the goals, risks or considerations, roles of the organization and Reimagine LABS team, links to additional resources, and contents of the deliverables. Jane also created two custom facilitation tools to lead the Discovery and Co-design workshop series. Finally, she created a learning and evaluation strategy and template so as the team begins to work with organizations and adapt their process, there is a systematic process in place to reflect on what works well and what needs to change.
