The Challenge

Small businesses who don't have dedicated HR staff find themselves filling this vitally important role on the side of their desk, without the necessary skills and resources to address the challenges they are facing. NS Works Online was aiming to provide a transparent, personable, and comprehensive resource for employers who are navigating government subsidy programs and developing hiring processes. 

Our Contribution

As a Senior Service Designer with Davis Pier Consulting, Jane led an ethnographic approach to learning from employers throughout Nova Scotia. The project reached a broad representation of employers to gather their experiences using photographs, written responses, and discussion. She facilitated collaborative analysis workshops with frontline staff to make sense of the feedback gathered. The phase was completed by developing a set of principles to follow when making design decisions and a set of ideas for services to prototype.
